Claud Bailey is an award-winning filmmaker, program producer for LGTBQIA+ teens and co-founder of TRANSMEDIUM, they make work and spaces that celebrates queerness.

Claud program produces multiple queer storytelling programs for LGBTQIA+SB teens that offers professional development and community connections. From Stories from the Heart, an annual queer storytelling program for eight teens to develop a performance piece through workshops led by established queer artists. The program is in its second year, in partnership with Darlinghurst Theatre Company, support from Wear it Purple and City of Sydney. To MISC., a monthly multidisciplinary workshop program with the Sydney Opera House where established queer artists plucked deep from community teach queer youth their art practice. They are the 2023 recipient of the Wear it Purple Arts and Culture Fellowship where they produced the arts program, produced the Wear it Purple Day event and project managed, Queer Futures Fund, a new annual grant FOR and BY queer emerging artists.

Claud recently founded TRANSMEDIUM with Aud Mason-Hyde, a trans-led and youth-centered organisation that elevates trans youth and their voices through opportunities for creative expression and connection.

Claud graduated from AFTRS in 2019 and was the recipient of the Young Australian Filmmaker of the Year Award. Their latest short, RIGHT HERE, starring Aud Mason-Hyde and Zoe Terakes had its Australian Premiere at Sydney Film Festival as a Dendy Finalist. They were awarded the Emerging Filmmaker Award in the prestigious and richest LGBTQIA+ awards in Australia, My Queer Career for Mardi Gras Film Festival 2023. The film was one of the thirteen international recipients to be awarded Inside Out RE:Focus Fund. As part of their fellowship, they received a grant to bring RIGHT HERE to schools all around Australia.

Their AFTRS graduation film, SUNBURN, which they wrote won Best Screenplay at My Queer Career for Mardi Gras Film Festival 2022 and Best Film in Australians in Film AFTRS Selects showcase. The film has screened at numerous festivals (MIFF, CinefestOZ, Flickerfest +) and is currently streaming on ABC iView here.

In 2021, they worked with Bus Stop Films and Northcott Disability Service, and supported by the Australian Department of Social Services to direct a short film titled VALIANT about people living with disabilities experiencing intimacy and healthy relationships.

In 2021, Claud started working in the music video world. Their debut was a music video for MAY-A (Arcadia SONY, Atlantic) called CENTRAL STATION, co-directed with Charles Buxton-Leslie. The video has reached over 180k views. Their latest music video for Alex the Astronaut (Warner Music) titled HAIRCUT was shot on 16mm film.

Claud also spends their time swimming in the ocean, doing find-a-words and driving around the Inner West in their shitty (but deeply loved) car, Snack.
